AkzoNobel's antimicrobial Interpon AM range – recently specified for use on 2,350 door handles in a clinic in Abu Dhabi – contains BioCote antimicrobial protection. It not only delivers outstanding decorative characteristics but also combats the growth of microbes such as bacteria and mold.
Suitable for a wide range of applications, it's typically used in hygiene conscious environments such as hospitals, clinics, changing rooms, schools and public transport.
"Demand for antimicrobial coatings is increasing due to growing consumer concern for hygiene," said Mark Reekie, global segment manager for AkzoNobel's industrial powder coatings. "The beauty of Interpon AM is that as well as meeting all the protective and decorative characteristics expected of a high-performance powder coating, it also performs to the very highest antimicrobial standards."
The BioCote antimicrobial technology active in Interpon AM reduces up to 99.99 percent of bacteria and mold on a protected surface, making it easier to keep hygienically clean and reducing the risk of cross-contamination.
"As the undisputed world leader in powder coatings, we're committed to setting the standards for quality, service and innovation," said Reekie. "Interpon AM is a prime example of how we continue to develop world-class products for our customers while always looking to grow and improve."
